2022 marks the ninth year of SU Wei-chia's FreeSteps, a ten-year choreography project. SU Wei-chia has been exploring the unique physical attributes of performers with AR. As the previous version redefined how we viewed dance with augmented reality technology, FreeSteps AR Yours 2.0 has taken it to a new level by fully upgrading its shooting equipment and creating an AR booth in the public space of NTT. AR technology again serves as the medium and viewers can freely switch between different perspectives with tablets and see dancers' performance in random sequence as they wish. 7 excellent dancers, 1 actor and 1 percussionist from Taiwan are captured with the technology, allowing the audiences to closely experience their unique motion in a supreme way.

Creative Team / HORSE

Founded in 2004, HORSE has established a distinctive profile with precise physical movements and their boundless creativity. In 2008, Velocity won the Taishin Arts Award, a prestigious arts award in Taiwan. In 2013, 2 Men won the 1st prize and Audience’s Choice Award in Kurt Jooss Preis, PACT Zollverein, Essen, Germany. In recent years, CHEN Wu-kang, the artistic director, and SU Wei-chia, the general director, have developed their unique art praxis. They continue to advance the company and lead their dancers towards new possibilities during this period of metamorphism in the Taiwanese contemporary dance scene. HORSE also endeavors to participate in and organize international collaborations, outreach programs, and curatorial projects. The practices include the platform Primal Chaos Dance×Sounds Improvisation and Back to the moment Dancing Talking Bar, a dance cinema in which creators and critics share and interact in real time, among other projects.

Panoramic Synchronization Photography / Solid Memory

Solid Memory is the Taiwan's first photogrammetry company, specializing in ultra-high resolution 3D scanning. Using 100 synchronized DSLR cameras in a 360º setup, they take an ultra-fine snapshot in one second so detailed that skin pores can be seen. Their greatest advantage is color accuracy, preserving the material details of scanned objects.

AR Programmer / XIAO Fu-ren

XIAO Fu-ren is a programmer who mainly develop interdisciplinary creative works of AR. He is now a member of FabLab Dynamic and works on interdisciplinary interactive programs. In 2021, he received Honorable Mention by Taiwan Original X Awards for his work Who is the Big Bad Wolf. He contributed his programming capability in art festivals home and abroad such as 2020 NTT-TIFA Freesteps AR Yours, Nuit Blanche Taipei 2020, and 2019 Prague Quadrennial.

Graphic Design / LEE Shiun-huan

LEE Shiun-huan is a video and theater director and graphic designer of Taiwanese indigenous descent. He assumed the pseudonym LEE Shiun-huan after being inspired by a Chinese martial arts novel. Trained in theater, LEE focused on producing and directing stage plays under his indigenous name from 2004 to 2008. In 2010, he switched his focus from stage creation to video creation as a director of commercial short films and documentaries. In addition, LEE has long involvement in producing graphic designs for Taiwanese performing arts groups, theater festivals as well as activities conducted in art and performance spaces.

Sound Design / One Litre Sound     

One Litre Sound was founded in 2015, and is dedicated to the production of sound art, new music, and performance art. Our team is always collaborating with artists from different backgrounds, and aims to create a variety of sound works inspired by our encounters. Recent works including sound design for HORSE dance company, and performance productions for NTCH IDEAS Lab-R&D Project, Reverberation: MuYu Project, and sound installations for Ju Ming Museum and Hong-gah Museum.

Sound Design / FANG Kuan-cheng

FANG Kuan-cheng received his Master of Music degree in trumpet performance at the Cologne University of Music, Germany. He studied under WANG Le-han, DENG Shi-ping, HSU Rong-fu and Anna Freeman and has taken master courses by French Trumpet Master Eric Aubier and the principal trumpeter with the Munich Philharmonic Uwe Komischke. He has performed with Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra and at the New Year's Concert in Aachen, Germany as solo and ensemble player.
