Artists-in-Residence
2025 - 2026
Supporting young artists is the key mission of National Taichung Theater. From inspiration to production, the NTT provides wide-ranging support in each step of the way enabling their creativity to converge and flow through the theater.
In 2017, the NTT had its first Artists-in-Residence: the choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, theater director Daniel WANG and cross-field visual artist Andy YEN.
In 2019, the NTT had new media artists WANG Lien-cheng and CHUANG Chih-wei, playwright LIN Meng-huan, and illustrator Baozi CHEN as the Artists-in-Residence for 2019-2020, guiding the public to experience the arts through creating diverse artistic activities.
In 2021, the NTT was honored to welcome cross-sector artist, CHOU Man-nung, choreographer, YANG Nai-hsuan (Sunny), and composer, CHENG I-lly. Partnering with NTT, they can concentrate on new productions, exploring more possibilities for performing arts with full support on resources backed by the NTT.
In 2023, the NTT had choreographer, CHEN Wu-kang, new media artist, YEH Ting-hao, and artist, CHANG Po-chieh as the Artists-in-Residence for 2023-2024. They break through boundaries between theater and the public, and to create "atypical theater" which would initiate performances in every corner.
In 2025, the NTT proudly welcomes its fifth Artists-in-Residency program, featuring sound artist Lai Chih-sia and theatre and visual artist Oscar HUANG. With the support of the NTT, they will embark on a two-year creative journey focused on engaging local communities and students while striving to expand performing arts education in Taichung.
