CHEN Hui-mei and Her Friends – Flute, Harp and Viola Concert

Flutist Hui-Mei Chen invites her friends, viola player Naoko Tomizawa and harpist Shu-Hsin Chen, to perform Debussy's Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp, a timeless masterpiece. Starting with this iconic and beloved sonata by Debussy, the concert introduces works inspired by Debussy for the same trio, including pieces by French composers Théodore Dubois, André Jolivet, and Edith Lejet, as well as Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu. Takemitsu, who wrote not only for this instrumentation, but also pays homage to Debussy by quoting fragments of Debussy’s sonata in his own composition. Through these captivating pieces, the concert aims to offer the audience a beautiful and memorable musical experience.
