The South American Train: Taiwan Reimagined in Latin Rhythms is a cross-cultural performance combining live music and theatrical storytelling, presented by Somm Jazz and Unplugged Theatre Lab. Framed as a train journey, the performance invites audiences to travel across Latin America and Taiwan through immersive storytelling and live music. Beloved Taiwanese pop classics are reimagined in a variety of Latin styles—including Salsa, Cumbia, Cha Cha Chá, Bolero, and Mambo—revealing new musical colors while highlighting the rich cultural connections between Taiwanese popular music and Latin American traditions. More than a concert, this production offers an engaging musical journey that uncovers the Latin influences hidden within melodies that generations of Taiwanese audiences have grown up with.
