Conductor CHANG, Yu-an joins the DF Modern Music Ensemble to give voice to the sounds of the islands. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes and history of Penghu, the program unfolds in layers — painting the texture and depth of island life, and weaving in the folk melodies of *baoge* to return music to its most elemental bond with the land. The concert culminates in the world premiere of composer Ryan Zen's new erhu concerto "Sea Flames", performed by principal soloist Jiang Ping-Chun — a native son of Penghu, whose bow traces the brilliant summer fireworks above his hometown.
