Starting from Taichung, the production explores the vanished Kingdom of Middag, the Papora, erotic and underworld culture in hotels. It delves into ghost stories and urban legends, religious beliefs, parade formation culture, and the migrant worker community active in Taichung ASEAN Square. Resonating from the urban shadows, echoing the predicament of Taiwanese individuals aged 30 to 40, who find themselves “stuck in the middle.” Through contemporary phenomena and the search for self, the performance reexamines the anxiety and melancholy of being caught in the middle. How do we collectively confront this era where we are forced to embrace the "lying flat" lifestyle? HONG utilizes his expertise in theatrical coordination, combines sound, light, music, visuals, and chaotic events to impact your nerves, guiding you through a journey that serves as both a sensory release and a contemplation of self and the future.Sucks in the Middle does not aim to represent all generations or serve as a politically correct historical drama. On stage, multiple focal points unfold simultaneously, and numerous events take place. The story segments are independent yet interconnected, lacking a complete language. Through immersive techniques, the audience is placed within the experience, relying on sensory perception and a language-less approach to return to the most natural form of emotional communication. HUNG Wei-yao, a theater director and actor, has founded Rouge Wave, a company specializing in creating immersive performances.

His works emphasize live experiences, embracing challenges in exploring diverse performance settings and audience dynamics, viewing each creation as an experiment.
