A poet once wrote, “Within each flower lies the secret of an entire universe.” Though poets may appear to be writing about flowers, they’re often using them as mirrors of our own lives. Flowers capture the full spectrum of human experience—innocence, passion, maturity, serenity, loss, and the quiet passing of time—each moment fleeting yet eternal in its beauty. When poets immortalize flowers in verse, these captivating forms and countless moods live on. And when composers set such poetry to music, each note deepens the feeling, inviting listeners to share inthe poet’s vision.
In this concert, soprano Ching Ju Lin and pianist Shin Jung Hsieh present a selection of pieces by fifteen composers and two folk songs across ten languages. Together, they bring to life the rich stories of flowers from around the world, inviting you to step into their world and experience each bloom’s beauty and emotion.
