The Final Chapter of the Full Cycle Journey: Birth, Death, and Soul
Sál, the latest work of Italian new media art collective fuse* will be premiered at the National Taichung Theater, marking the final chapter of their Full Cycle Journey. Inspired by nature’s cycle of creation and dissolution, this full cycle is a profound journey through the perceptions of life and death, and an exploration of consciousness. The first chapter, Ljós (Light), celebrates the birth of life; the second, Dökk (Darkness), traverses the path from birth to death. Now, in Sál (Soul), the focus shifts to the boundaries of existence, delving into soul and the boundaries of life, embracing and defining the impermanent nature of all that exists.
Impermanence does not simply signify disappearance; it is woven into the rhythm of all life, the ceaseless ebb and flow of existence. Where there is continual loss, there is also unending becoming, as all things, from the micro to the macro, move in an eternal flux. Sál delves into the realms of human consciousness, traversing the boundary between dream and near-death experiences. Drawing on quantum physics, philosophy, spirituality, and human experience, it explores the connections between soul and boundaries of life across diverse cultures and religions. By capturing and analysing the physiological data from participants engaged in remote meditation, the information/data is transformed and transmitted to integrate with the interactive signals, visuals, and sounds inside the Grand Theater.
fuse*
Founded in Italy in 2007, fuse* is dedicated to exploring the expressive possibilities of emerging technologies, interpreting the complexities of human, social, and natural phenomena.
