One of Europe’s foremost contemporary dance companies, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani brings together 38 young dancers from 20 countries and works with leading choreographers to create trailblazing dance pieces. In Skid, by challenging the 17 dancers to defy gravity with a dance floor tilting at 34°, Belgian choreographer Damien Jalet interrogates the relationship between humans and the law of gravity and reflects the struggle between will, resistance, collapse and resilience. In SAABA, Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal offers mesmerizing dance vocabulary and a style exuding a hypnotic, pulsating power that sends the audience to a hallucinatory parallel world. Costumes designed by Dior’s Creative Director works like the second layer of the dancers’ skin and highlights body contour, sweat, emotion and tension in tiny movements.

GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is a contemporary dance company within The Göteborg Opera. One of Europe’s foremost contemporary dance companies, it consists of 38 dancers from 20 different countries - forming the biggest contemporary dance company in the Nordic region. Each of its dancers contribute their unique artistry. Together, on the basis of the diverse cultural backgrounds of the members, they make up a creative and dynamic ensemble that attracts the world’s leading choreographers to Gothenburg to create new, revolutionary works. Katrín Hall is the Artistic director for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani since August 2016.
