Beastosis: Call of the Skull, created by House Peace & ET@T, is adapted from Beastosis, an original fantasy novel by emerging Taiwanese writer CHIOU Charng-ting. In her work, elements of Taiwanese social issues, Indigenous culture, and colonial histories are woven into a science-fiction narrative through the lens of magical realism.
In Beastosis, there exists a world where mimickers can reveal the truth of reality through the movements of their hands. Hoping to bring his beloved brother back to life, Luan devotes himself to mastering the art of mimicking and trains a group of apprentices, sending them on a journey to seek the highest form of mimicry, the power of resurrection.
Beastosis: Call of the Skull blends virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and live performance to guide the audience across the shifting boundary between the real and the virtual, drawing them into an apocalyptic fable propelled by unseen forces. With a headset on, each audience member becomes one of Luan’s apprentices and embarks on a journey to the edge of the reservation, seeking the art of mimicking through which the world can be made.

ET@T
Since 1995, ET@T have continuously observed and developed various promising art forms while exploring the unknown states brought about by digital culture. As the rapid transformation of XR-related media has triggered unprecedented experiences in artistic perception, in 2020 ET@T established VA Hub (Virtual Art Hub), an immersive experimental art exhibition space designed to expand our capacity for technological research and development.
House Peace
Founded in 2018, House Peace is formed by a group of professionals with expertise across multiple areas of theater, including directing, acting, stage, lighting, and costume design, as well as various forms of visual creation.
