In this recital, young pianist CHEN Kuan-wei explores the theme of "Rupture," reflecting on the transformation of the human experience amidst the historical upheavals and wars of the 20th century. The program traces Leoš Janáček’s societal reflections, Władysław Szpilman’s portrayal of mechanical rhythms, and Sergei Prokofiev’s wartime tension, contemplating how sound responds to its era. In the second half, Maurice Ravel’s shorter tributes and Le Tombeau de Couperin honor musical traditions and mourn friends lost to the Great War.
