Singing for Love ⅩⅡ: Moments and Eternity
04/12(Sun)14:30
It is well known that Bach was controversial in his era, with sayings like "Bach's music was two centuries ahead of its time" and Mendelssohn's "Bach Revival."
In 1829, Mendelssohn thoroughly studied and performed Bach's St. Matthew Passion, reviving Bach's music. Thereafter, Bach gained widespread study, performance, and appreciation, even surpassing his lifetime influence in the 19th century. Thus, we have Baroque Bach, Romantic Bach, recorded Bach, 21st-century Bach...
Over nearly 200 years, through timeless moments, people recognize Bach's music as not just art, but faith—expressing deep Christian doctrine, theology, and awe of God.
This concert presents Bach's Mass in G minor BWV 235, likely composed 1738-1740, one of five Lutheran Masses before the B minor Mass.
We also perform three pieces from Dr. Tseng Kuei-hai's Time's Odyssey series, honoring the physician who passed in 2024.
