Introduction

Pirate Queen Tsai Khian Ma was a legendary woman far ahead of her time. For decades, she ruled the seas with fearless resolve and was said to have given the Jiaqing Emperor more trouble than any man ever could. But as she entered middle age, she began to dream of a different life—one on land. Her bold new plan was to conquer Taiwan and transform it into a safe haven for her pirate alliance.

To set her plan in motion, Tsai Khian Ma disguised herself as a man and slipped into Taiwan’s busiest port town, Bángkah. What she didn’t expect was to fall hopelessly in love with a mysterious and charming merchant.

TANG Mei-yun, a celebrated Taiwanese opera performer known for her signature portrayals of young male roles, now takes an unexpected turn as a formidable pirate matriarch. She is joined by HSU Hsiu-nien, one of the most acclaimed Dan (female role) actresses in Taiwanese opera, and the ever-versatile Hsiao-mi. Together, the trio dives into a deliciously tangled web of flirtation and rivalry.

Joining them is GuoGuang Opera Company’s leading actor TANG Wen-hua, who plays the legendary Pirate King Tsai Khian. The two TANGs reunite as a fiery pair—locked in a love-hate relationship where passion and power collide onstage.

This bold reimagining breaks free from historical fact and plunges audiences into a thrilling parallel universe, where pirates, imperial forces, and the Tiandihui secret society collide in a whirlwind of power and intrigue, giving rise to a sweeping tale of romance and adventure.
