Musical Farewell Beitou is written by acclaimed director and dubbed the best storyteller in Taiwan, WU Nien-jen, accompanies with the award-winning songwriter CHEN Ming-chang, and performed mostly in Holo, or commonly known as Taiwanese. The show has gripped the hearts of cross-generation audiences. The story is about the everyday happenings and struggles of ordinary people in the 1960s Beitou, the northern part of Taipei city, which at the time was best known for men’s clubs. This is a show which tells the rise and fall of Beitou in the past century, the love and sorrow of an unrelated family. Throughout the play, the younger generation is able to relive the old times of Beitou once again. The music and drama of Musical Farewell Beitou will definitely leave the audience in tears—the audience’s emotional strides, sniffles are often heard in the dark, and it certainly will not leave a dry eye in the play house when the curtain comes down.
