Carried Through Generations: The Hakka Sling of Love
08/20(Wed)19:30
“Carried Through Generations” is personally produced by Peng Meng-Hsien, the conductor, artistic director, and director of the National Taiwan Hakka Children's Choir. Using the traditional baby carrier—once used by Hakka women to carry their infants—as its central image, the work vividly expresses Hakka love through themes of care, heritage, and hope, interweaving deep Hakka sentiment with a global perspective.
The concert will present five captivating thematic series: “Heritage: Love in Hakka,” “Vision: Contemporary Hakka,” “Guardianship and Innovation: World Premieres of Commissioned Works,” “Hope: Songs of the World,” and “Compassion: Love for the Earth.” Several newly composed Hakka songs will also have their world premieres at this event.
