From Sherlock Holmes in the West to Manabu Yukawa or Detective Galileo in the East, these flawed but charming detectives do not reason and behave in a simple black and white manner. Bewildering and ambiguous, their inner worlds can almost be described as rogue and insane.

Detective Deduction expands detectives' search for truth in reality to the questioning of "realness" The work expresses and interrogates the anxiety bordering on our consciousness and refuses to give a conclusion of one single truth. It focuses on vacancy and possibilities in the absence of the detectives.

This is an interdisciplinary production combining the elements of exhibition and theatrical performance. On the stage of the Grand Theater, more than a dozen rooms of fictional detectives and relevant characters are created as the main structure of the experience and audience can wander between these rooms. Featuring different media and art forms like light, sound, videos, objects, kinetic installations and actors, each room reflects the state of mind of its owners and is strewn with clues that implicitly indicate the skills and knowledge of a certain detective. Through the exchange of information online and physical personal participatory experience and interpretation of the their engagement, audience members create their own narratives and sensations different from conventional theater performance.
