Adrien M & Claire B previously dazzled NTT audiences in 2022 with Acqua Alta, combining an immersive AR/VR experience with a high-tech dance film. In Équinoxe, the moment of transition in between states serves as the duo’s inspiration for this part concert, part visual and aural journey. In the same vein as their earlier work Hakanaï, the work is presented on a cuboid stage with imagery generated on-the-fly by the duo’s own eMotion software, accompanied by the sounds of cool jazz and space age rock from the band Limousine. As the sounds and rhythms of guitar, keyboard, percussion, and saxophone mingle and shift, the dancers’ movements also metamorphose into ever-changing shadows and lines, at once poetic and powerful.
