“Why does TurtleGuishan Island often shed tears over the Yilan-Ebene? ” 

Have you heard that Guishan Island (Turtle Island) cries? Long ago, there was a Crystal Dragon Palace in the waters off Yilan, home to Princess Kavalan, the most beloved daughter of the Eastern Sea Dragon King. The Dragon King believed that the dragon race was the most powerful in the world and prohibited the princess from associating with other groups. However, the princess gradually fell in love with General Turtle, who was skilled in martial arts and accompaniedbodyguarded her to school. On the day of graduation, the Dragon King announced that the princess would marry the prince of the Western Dragon King's family, but she chose to elope with General Turtle instead. Faced with the Dragon King's army attacking, General Turtle decided to transform into a giant turtle to resist, but he was petrified into an island by the Dragon King's magic, condemned to forever shed tears while gazing at the land. 

FengShen Baobao Troupe aims to introduce children to the legendary tales of every township in Taiwan. Princess Kavalan & General Turtle, derived from the Yilan slang “When Turtle IslandGuishan hides its head, heavy rain is close at hand,” introduces the tales of the Yilan-Ebene and TurtleGuishan Island. Musically, it adheres to FengShen Baobao Troupe’s style of reinterpreting the tunes of Taiwanese opera, with a focus on dialogues and lyrics that resonate with children. The performance is primarily in Taiwanese, supplemented by Mandarin, incorporating singing and dancing, and embellished with popular elements, creating a cheerful yet meaningful production. 

FengShen Baobao Troupe 

Established in 2012, FengShen Baobao Troupe is Taiwan's first children's theater troupe dedicated to storytelling through traditional opera and local culture. Over the years, they have performed in numerous venues across Taiwan, accumulating experience from hundreds of shows, both large and small. 

The talent on the traditional theater stage must be passed down, as does the audience appreciation culture offstage, for traditional performing arts to continue their long-lasting legacy. Therefore, it is the ultimate goal of FengShen Baobao, in today's society, where Western and foreign cultures abound, igniting interest in Taiwan's cultural among Taiwanese children, leading them to appreciate traditional culture and gain deeper understanding, when Western and foreign cultures abound in our society is the ultimate goal of FengShen Baobao.
