自2008年開始創作「女舞者肖像三部曲」,透過女舞者的肢體,探討自我與外在相互影響與對話的過程與可能。而知名佛朗明哥獨舞者史蒂芬妮.弗斯特則在1995年時毅然決然拋棄所有,立志學習佛朗明哥舞蹈,果然成為知名舞者。奧雷利安為史蒂芬妮創作這支舞作《妳怎麼樣了?》,描繪史蒂芬妮這八年的內心狀態,一場舞宛如一幅史蒂芬妮的畫像。 博瑞新馬戲的藝術專長,讓他的舞台空間感十足,舞者在空靈的燈光中,宛若精靈翩飛,時而柔弱、時而剛強,令人迷醉。暗黑的舞台,佛朗明哥高亢吟唱,史蒂芬妮醉心於舞蹈,放棄高薪法律人生, 奮不顧身投入佛朗明哥舞蹈世界裡,多年來獨自品嘗著每位頂尖舞者必然走過的孤獨之路。人生歷程銘刻在心上,也影響著肢體記憶。「我怎麼樣了?」這句史蒂芬妮詢問自身八年的問題,透過這場舞,身體的回答將是什麼?
“Qu’est-ce que tu deviens ?” is roughly equivalent to “What's become of you?” in English. It questions the choices made, and demands an on-the-spot assessment. It is a warning signal, a sting. There is despair in the way it asks, “What have you become?” yet hope is what drives evolution. It forces us to look at the known realm behind us, while the process of becoming propels us into the future, into the unknown.
Aurélien Bory creates an architect of theatrical space for the portrait of renowned flamenco dancer Stéphanie Fuster. Dancing against a dress with a mind of its own, from within the confines of a tiny studio, and through a dark square of shallow water, Fuster’s life and art are transformed in a piece that speaks of the relationship between the outside and the inside space, the lonely passion of flamenco, and our struggle to exist. This production was nominated for the Best New Dance Production of the 2014 Oliver Awards in London.
Aurélien Bory
Award-winning renowned French artist Aurélien Bory founded the Compagnie 111 in 2000. He has been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike for his innovations in theater arts. He develops a physical theater that is singular and hybrid, a cross between different, converging fields in the performing arts. His interest in the sciences influences his aesthetic as well.
The remarkable series of women portraits created by Bory began in 2008 with Stephanie Fuster in Questcequetudeviens?. And again, he opted for a dancer as his model: the Japanese Kaori Ito. Bory’s aim was to tackle dance as an intimate assessment of the innermost self. He would rely on the work and the artistic career of the dancer; with Kaori Ito, as it was already the case with Stéphanie Fuster, her path can be explored in the light of its various displacements.
