WANG Jhao-cian is a Taiwan-based theatre director and cultural practitioner, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Our Theatre, a long-term cultural laboratory founded in 2003 in Chiayi. His work focuses on developing theatre as an operating method — a way to organize people, time, space, and attention — rather than producing isolated performances. Across theatre-making, local curation, and education, he is concerned with how cultural practices are sustained over time and how action becomes possible within specific social and spatial conditions. Working closely with local contexts, Wang’s practice extends beyond the stage into cities, schools, and civic spaces. He develops long-term, site-responsive cultural systems that emphasize continuity, repetition, and participation, treating culture not as output, but as an ongoing practice. His work consistently rejects fast replication and spectacle-driven logic, insisting instead on methods that can endure time, friction, and failure.
