Sieglinde / Anja Kampe

Sieglinde / Anja Kampe

German soprano Anja Kampe is one of today‘s most important singers. Her portrayals of several roles have set the standard for other performers, including her Sieglinde at Bayreuth Festival, Isolde at Ruhrtriennale, Katerina Ismailova at Bayerische Staatsoper and Brünnhilde in Die Walküre at Salzburg Easter Festival. Kampe opens the season 2017/18 singing Fidelio at Teatro di San Carlo with Zubin Mehta conducting. She returns to the stage of Bayerische Staatsoper to reprise her explosive performance as Katerina in Lady Macbeth von Mtsensk, as well as Sieglinde in Die Walküre with Kirill Petrenko conducting. Staatsoper Berlin will present Ms. Kampe as Isolde in a new production of Tristan und Isolde with Daniel Barenboim conducting. She will also appear twice this season as Kundry in Parsifal at Wiener Staatsoper and at Opéra National de Paris’ new production under the baton of Philippe Jordan.

Anja Kampe’s international break-through was her portrayal of Siglinde opposite Placido Domingo at Washington National Opera. After that she had triumphs in the same role in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bayreuth, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, Paris and London. Senta (De Vliegende Hollander) and Leonore (Fidelio) have become further central roles in Ms. Kampe’s repertoire. In 2014 she opened the season of La Scala as Leonore (Fidelio) under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. With Maestro Barenboim conducting, she has made her role debuts as both Tosca and Kundry at Staatsoper Berlin. Kampe’s repertoire includes roles like Eva (Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Elsa (Lohengrin), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Lisa (Pique Dame), Jenůfa (Jenůfa), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten) and Giorgetta (Il tabarro) and others.
