Laurent Pelly is one of the leading opera and theater directors of our time. Since 1989, he has directed nearly one hundred opera productions and collaborated with many of the world’s foremost opera houses and theaters. Renowned for his distinctive artistic vision, keen insight, and eccentric sense of humor, Pelly creates richly imaginative stage worlds that have captivated audiences around the globe.

In addition to directing, he frequently designs costumes and sets for his own productions, bringing a uniquely cohesive visual language to his work. His productions have received numerous international accolades, including Best Director at the International Opera Awards in 2016, the Opera News Award in 2019, and Best New Production at the International Opera Awards in 2022 for his staging of Poulenc’s double bill.
