Fangas Nayaw

Co-Artistic Director of Fist & Cake Production, Fangas Nayaw is an indigenous performing arts creator whose works span film, theater, and dance, earning him the nickname “creative beast.” His 2016-piece Mailulay was recognized as one of the top five works of the year at the Taishin Arts Award. His directed work A Song Within Us was nominated at both South by Southwest( SXSW) and the Kaohsiung Film Festival in the VR competition category. In 2017, he served as the choreographer for the opening ceremony of the Taipei Summer Universiade. As an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2018, he curated and directed Masingkiay, which was later invited to be exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in 2019. From 2020 to 2022, Fangas served as the performing arts curator for Taipei Nuit Blanche and also curated the performing arts for the Theme Hall at Creative Expo Taiwan in both 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he was awarded a cultural grant from the Asian Cultural Council (ACC).
