PAI is a world renowned writer, playwright and producer of Kunqu. His many highly acclaimed novels and short stories have been translated into different languages and adapted for film, television and the stage.
Regardless of whether he was writing creative works in Taiwan, Pai’s love affair with Kunqu opera has never weakened. He was involved in the productions of Peony Pavilion-Young Lovers’ Edition, and The New Edition Jade Hairpin among others. He took on the task of creating an adaptation that is suited to modern tastes and yet remains faithful to the original opera, including all the traditional performance practices of
Kunqu opera.
