HWARNG Wern-ying
Costume Design
HWARNG Wern-ying began her career in theater in the U.S., working in costume design for the opera and musical theater, and art design for the television. She became an art director and makeup artist for film director HOU Hsiao-hsien in 1994. In addition to winning the award for Best Makeup and Costume Design at the 2015 Golden Horse Awards for her work in The Assassin, she has been acclaimed at the Asia Pacific Film Festival, the Taipei Film Festival, the Asian Film Awards for her rich creativity and ability to precisely convey the intricacies of each character in her designs.
