Concertgebouworkest

Concertgebouworkest

Founded in 1888, the Concertgebouworkest has been contributed by 7 Chief Conductors including Willem Kes, Willem Mengelberg, Eduard van Beinum, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, Mariss Jansons, and Daniele Gatti. Leading composers in the early 20th century such as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, and Igor Strawinsky also conducted the orchestra on more than one occasion. While the exceptional acoustics of the Concertgebouw play an important role in this respect, no other orchestra sounds like the Concertgebouworkest in the Main Hall. In 2018, the Orchestra founded its youth orchestra to cultivate outstanding young talent across Europe as well.
