Italian baritone Vittorio Prato is internationally recognized for his interpretations of the bel canto repertoire, particularly the works of Mozart, Rossini, and Donizetti. He studied piano and harpsichord at the Conservatory of Bologna before pursuing vocal studies with distinguished teachers including Luciano Pavarotti, Ivo Vinco, and Sherman Lowe. He has received top prizes at several international vocal competitions.
Prato has appeared at many of the world’s leading opera houses and concert venues, including the Berlin State Opera, Opéra Comique in Paris, La Monnaie in Brussels, Hamburg State Opera, and London’s Barbican Centre. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Fabio Luisi.
His recent roles include Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen. His repertoire also includes Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, and Così fan tutte, as well as Verdi’s La traviata and Puccini’s La bohème. In 2025, he appeared as Marcello in La bohème at Italy’s renowned Puccini Festival.
