Soprano HSIAO Han holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas. She is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Tunghai University, a board member of the Association of Vocal Artists of R.O.C., and a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
During her studies in the United States, she received the Winspear Opera Scholarship, Academic Achievement Scholarship, and Summer Research Fellowship from the University of North Texas. Active in both opera and musical theater, she appeared in productions of Gounod’s Faust, Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Bernstein’s West Side Story, Massenet’s Cendrillon, and Vivaldi’s Giustino. She was also frequently invited to collaborate with contemporary American composers and participated in several world premiere performances of their works.
Since returning to Taiwan, HSIAO has remained active as both an educator and performer. Her recent appearances include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin as part of Weiwuying’s “Tchaikovsky Mania 24” series, Chen Tasao in Formosa Bloom with the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, Concepción in Ravel’s L’Heure espagnole, and Rosalinde in Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus with the Taipei Philharmonic Opera Studio.
