Joris Mathieu

Director of the Théâtre Nouvelle Génération – Centre dramatique National de Lyon

After getting a Master in Theatre Studies, Joris Mathieu founded the Haut et Court art collective in 1998 with a few fellow actors and technical creators in Lyon. As passionate about literature as about visual arts, Joris Mathieu focuses on adapting novels or short stories, which gives him the opportunity to fully express himself as a stage director and author on stage. Since January 2015, Joris Mathieu has become the director of the Théâtre Nouvelle Génération – Centre dramatique national de Lyon. The artistic project of the Theater totally echoes with the project started back in 1998 with the Haut et Court collective, to investigate creation and poetry through intergenerational lens. Finding new ways into art for each and every generation, inventing new and innovative devices to reach out to audiences and in particular, the younger ones : this is the very heart of the CDN's project.
