R.fu

Performer

If R.fu had to be summed up in a single phrase, it would be “a rapper with the heart of a warrior.” Hailing from the Malifor community in Ruisui, Hualien, R.fu belongs to the Sakizaya people, an Indigenous community of only around a thousand in Taiwan. His distinctive voice caught ABAO’s attention during the first Mother Tongue Electronic Music Workshop, leading him to become a core member of Nanguaq and a trusted presence onstage.

A street dancer from an early age, R.fu developed a deep fascination with hip-hop culture. Although he ultimately chose not to pursue dance professionally, a pastor’s wife at his church encouraged him to try worship through rap, an experience that revealed his potential as a musician. His first collaboration with ABAO and electronic music producer Ń7ä, zaljum, went on to win Best Electronic Song at the Golden Indie Music Awards.
