Daniel WANG

Theater Director

Born in Taichung in 1983, Daniel WANG graduated from the Department of Drama and Theatre and the Graduate Institute of Drama and Theatre of National Taiwan University. WANG is an Artist-in-Residence at the NTT from 2017 to 2018, currently working at the theater full-time as a playwright, director and actor. His works would start from the narrative and focus on the original play against the backdrop of Taiwan, which reflect Taiwan’s modernity, humanity, and social changes, as well as innovative views and ideas, thereby creating diverse and profound pieces of works.

During WANG’s residency, he embarked on a wild journey spanning from 1981 to 2050 based on his own experience of growing up. He zoomed in to observe the individual’s destiny in the changing history, and by using the perspectives of the generation born in the 1980s, also known as the “strawberry generation”, “bomb generation” or “Generation N”, WANG explores the unique issues faced by this generation.
