舒曼當然不會想到，他形容為「藏在鮮花下的槍砲」的蕭邦，在第十屆蕭邦大賽中反而由一位藏在烽火下成長的青年綻放出最動人的詮釋。而同樣讓人佩服的是，這位創下許多紀錄的鋼琴家，用上將近八年的時間，回學校繼續探索，對自己的技巧再行雕琢。事實上，相隔了37 年，他仍然保持著那份對音樂的謙虛與好奇，琴音始終透露著纖細、好奇、純真，透明、曲折，色彩瑰麗萬千。他是鄧泰山，每次來臺都帶來驚喜的他，將與NSO一起演繹蕭邦第二號鋼琴協奏曲─這首當年改變他一生的決賽曲目，而我們不只期待歷史重現，更是經歷歲月那醇厚芳香的積累。

Music by Spanish composers opens and closes this concert led by the British-Gibralterian conductor Karel Mark Chichon. Noelia Lobato’s Ariel is based on a character from Shakespeare’s Tempest. The two suites from Manuel de Falla’s colorful ballet score El Sombrero de tres picos (The Three-cornered Hat) bring the concert to a riotous close, but not before we are treated to a series of dances that are Spanish to the core. Ravel was a French composer, but he was enamored of Spain, and many of his most famous works evoke that country. Alborada del gracioso (The Jester’s Morning Song) is one of the most flamboyant and spectacular of them. Chopin’s F-minor Piano Concerto has nothing to do with Spain, but its enduring appeal makes it welcome in virtually any context.
